How therapy helpsStraight talking with a neutral and non-judgemental person can really help a young person to gain new insights and perspective on their situation. They may be faced with exams, decisions, essays, job applications and interviews. All of these can produce stress. When stress gets to the point where it is interfering with sleep or affecting quality of life and key relationships this is the time to get help. I offer and teach a number of effective techniques that young people respond well to such as Havening Techniques, EFT, EMDR, Mindfulness and Hypnosis for use between sessions and as an ongoing life skill.

Techniques I useCounselling - some people just prefer to chat about it and that's ok. I provide a number of interventions such as EMDR - a technique that uses the bi-lateral eye movements from REM sleep, which is the brain's natural healing process, Havening Techniques which involves light touch that produces Delta (or brain) waves that switch off the triggers of distress deep in the Amygdala (a part of the Brain), EFT tapping that involves tapping on meridian points whilst releasing emotions , Gestalt therapy that involves being able to have a conversation with someone who is not present, Hypnosis that involves relaxing the body to the point where the conscious chatter (or internal dialogue) is quiet and the subconscious listens to helpful post-hypnotic therapeutic suggestions towards changes of old patterns, behaviours and desired outcomes.
